  4. I like your work!
I am a French business student, and i want to learn Spanish. Your videos are really helpfull. Thank you very much!

  5. Ola Senor Jordan.
I am wondering, why is it that the ‘r’ drops off the verb depending on it’s chronological order in the sequence of events.
For example, you write “Juan come una hamburguesa antes de beber una Coca-cola”. Tambien, tu escribe “Juan bebe una Coca-cola después de comer una hamburguesa”.

The first verb in the sentence drops the ‘r’, the second keeps it. Fine if writing it all in the form with ‘antes de’ and ‘después de’ in the middle, but then we continue this rule when using the before or after at the start of the sentence. For example: “Después de comer una hamburguesa, Juan bebe una Coca cola”.. Is it truly about the verbs order in the event?
    Por favor, ayuda me..

  6. As I explain in the video, when you have ‘antes de’ and ‘después de’, you leave the verb as infinitive…

An infinitive verb has the ‘r’ on the end. It means ‘to ___’ but in this case would translate to the equivalent in English of ‘___ing’

    Eg:
Juan bebe una Coca-cola antes de comer.
Juan drinks a Coca-cola before eating.
Juan come una hamburguesa después de beber una Coca-Cola.
Juan eats a hamburger after drinking a Coke.

It has nothing to do with the word order. It is just that after the phrases ‘antes de’ and después de’ you leave the verb with an ‘r’ on the end.

  9. Hola Senor Jordon,

Your are awesome, and you definitely know how to teach!!!

I am leaving for Peru in a few weeks, and won’t be able to have much internet access due to being in La Amazonia 😉 I was wondering if you have any lessons on mp3 or notes I could download and print off.

    Muchas Gracias Mi Amigo!

  10. Can I use ing words with antes like if someone asked what I was doing could I reply with an ing word. Por ejemplo I am having breakfast before I go to work. Does de always get used with antes y despues?

  11. I have tried many times in my many years to learn Spanish. Since your library is now large enough, I am trying something differently. I usually keep starting at the beginning and never succeeding. This time, I am following one lesson from your year 1 and one lesson from your year 2 each day. I can do this because of my partial knowledge of Spanish from the past and because your lessons are so well organised. You have included word lists and other helpful features with the videos.

Thank you for your help with Spanish.
