Preterite Sheet

While you wait for the new videos, I made a Microsoft word document that will hopefully be of use to any Spanish student.

If the preterite completely baffles you or you would like a resource to help you understand it better I’ve compiled a sort of cheat sheet for you.

Please note that the vosotros/vosotras forms are included in the conjugations in case you need them. Remember that is only for ‘you all (familiar)’ in Spain. Otherwise for ‘you all’ we use ustedes.

Click below to save the file to your computer.

Hopefully it will help you with the preterite (an incredibly complicated tense in Spanish). 🙂 My only request is that you give credit to this site if you use it.

Let me know if you have any questions, comments or suggestions.

¡Gracias!

-Sr. Jordan

I am really loving this! Unfortunately the text and graphics on the word document is all shifted and half of the text is missing. Do you, by chance, have a better copy you could post?

The preterit conjugation 2 pager is the single most useful Spanish tool I have found thus far. Thanks so much for creating it!

Sr. J, this is a great concise preterite sheet. Spanish 2 is chock full of the preterite and its craziness, and my kids always have trouble keeping track of it all (But for those irregulars all I have to say is “Tener es tuve…” 😉 ). This year’s group will surely benefit from this awesome resumen. Muchisimas gracias, and keep it coming! You’re a celeb at LMS!

recently found your website through youtube and really am gleaning a lot of info from it. Thanks so much!! As well I am studying via Skype, but my problem is since I’m (ahem) 41, I feel like I can’t let go of “thinking” in english and always trying to make spanish work that way. Obviously a big stumbling block. any suggestion??

Thank you SO MUCH for this conjugation sheet!! I’m currently taking the second course of four in a Texas community college, and the preterite has been a speed bump in my learning. This will help out so much to have them all in one place to study!!
