Special project – Commercial

So something I’ve always wanted to learn since I started my video project was Adobe Flash. They have since renamed it to Adobe Animate and I was given the opportunity this semester to work on a special project for a company. They wanted me to make a commercial for them.

Check it out!

I know I have felt like Dumpy Dan before, personally! Well, minus the sharks. 🙂

If you’re curious why I did this for them, here’s a little bit of background:

While many of you know me as the Grammar Guru, I’ve used TPRS over the years in my classes and have found that my students prefer it over the textbook and other methods I have tried.

I went to NTPRS for the first time last summer and found it to be a very refreshing conference where I was able to learn a lot more about TPRS from other teachers who use it (to varying degrees) in their classes as well!

This commercial was drawn completely by me and animated in Adobe Animate CC (formerly Adobe Flash). It’s my first attempt at Adobe Animate and I think it came out very professional-looking. I am still amazed at the way his mouth looks when he talks!

I designed it with old Hanna-Barbera cartoons in mind.

I hope you enjoy the commercial. It took me a few days to make and I am really proud of it and hope to take what I learned in making it to enhance my Spanish teaching videos even further.

Spanish Teachers (and teachers of other languages),

Have you registered for NTPRS yet?! Register today at www.ntprs.info !

NTPRS is a national conference held annually around the U.S. to train teachers in Teaching Proficiency through Reading and Storytelling (TPRS).

I’d love to see some of you there! 🙂

UPDATE:

And here’s a commercial I was asked to do for Fluency Fast which will be at iFLT and NTPRS. And you should check them out if you’re wanting to get better at Spanish, or other languages!

  1. I am a Spanish teacher in Vancouver, Canada. We start teaching Spanish in grade 9.
I teach grades 10, 11 and 12. My students are always happy to see your videos. They would like to write to you, to thank you. Where can they write their notes digitally? Do I have them use this site? Or please direct me otherwise.

    Cheers and thank you!

  2. I am a Spanish teacher at a small Christian school in Wichita Falls, TX. I just found out about CI, and I want to start teaching it this school year, but I have no idea how to begin. I teach 8th grade Spanish, Spanish I, II and III. If you could direct me to some websites or anything, I would appreciate it. Thanks!
