02 Preterite – Irregulars – Song!

To help you with remembering quite of few of those irregular verbs, I’ll share a song I learned back in high school! This song is also on page 2 of the preterite conjugation sheet.

This song helps you remember the yo forms of some of the common irregular verbs in the preterite. If it sounds familiar that is because it is to the tune of ‘La cucaracha‘.

HD version with newer titles:

*Note* in this video on a verb chart, the Él / ella / usted form should not have an accent on “ió” and should read “io” since “vio” and “dio” do not have accents.

old version (2008):

Vocabulario:
¡sí se puede!
– ‘yes you can!’ (literally: Yes, it can [be done])
haber
– there to be
hay
– there is /are
hubo
– there was /were

I took 4 years of Spanish in high school, and I am now returning to college. It’s amazing how much of this you forget if you don’t use the language regularly! I was struggling in my online Spanish 2, until I found these videos.

Thank you so much!

I also had trouble with the audio for this and a few other videos. Same issue when I search them on Youtube.

Thank you so much for your videos and lessons! They are wonderfully amazing.
Is there any way you would be able to put this video on teachertube? My school blocks you tube and I think that my students would really benefit from this song!

Jeremy,

I am loving your videos! I am referring some friends to them to help them learn Spanish. Also, we are impatiently waiting for your preterite vs. imperfect video! 🙂

P.S. How are you? Still coming to Kville regularly?
